I was recently having a conversation with a woman, she was a bit distressed about her relationship with God, and or Jesus. Why?

"I haven't been to church for some time", she said, "I don't know how that affects my 'Baptism'"!

Have you ever wondered about your standing with God, The Church or others of faith, either due to circumstance or choice, or you simply have not continued with the same pattern of worship or devotion you once had?

To help understand God's thinking on such important things, lets look at what 'Baptism' and other important milestones in life and particularly in relation to worship that is acceptable to God.

Of course with the unending array of Faiths and Religions and opinions and your previous instruction. Your understanding of such things will likely be just as varied and your own understanding, today, may well be very different to what will be discussed.

Does it matter? Lets look at some information and if you find it useful, then good, if not, that's up to you what you do with it.

We are all learning and on various paths, all, hopefully leading us to our one home.

BAPTISM

The word itself is from the Greek ba'pti-sma, which refers to the process of emersion, including submersion and followed by emergence; it is derived from the verb ba'pto, meaning 'dip'.

In the Bible to Baptise is the same as immerse.

Therefore; sprinkling or pouring of water to symbolise baptism is not what was intended by the Holy writings. The Holy Bible,. An Improved Edition, renders Romans 6;3,4. as follows, "Or, are ye ignorant, that all we who were baptised (immersed) into Christ Jesus were baptised (immersed) into his death? We were buried therefore with him through our baptism (immersion) into his death."

The Greek Septuagint uses a form of the same word for 'dip' at Exodus 12;22 and Leviticus 4:6.

When one is immersed in water, one is temporarily "Buried" out of sight and then lifted out.

So then scriptural the process should likewise be of immersion, symbolising the burial of ones self determined course, and emergence to a new course of decision, governed by God's righteous principles.

The history of 'immersion' or baptism of worshippers of God began, as you likely have heard with John. He was used by God to make 'His' way ready. Luke 1;13-17, 68-79. The disciple Luke records that "God's declaration came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. So he came.... preaching baptism [in symbol] of repentance for forgiveness of sins".

Various translations of God's word give a more rounded understanding of Johns baptism.

Luke 3;3-- John came preaching baptism in symbol of repentance of sin" New World Translation. "Baptism conditioned on repentance", (CB) translation. "baptism whereby men repented, to have their sins forgiven". Knox translation. "baptism in token of repentance for forgiveness of sin". (NE) translation. "Turn away from your sins and be baptised, and God will forgive your sins". (TEV) translation.

These references made clear that the 'Baptism', did not wash away their sins, but "REPENTANCE" and changing their ways did, and of this, baptism was a symbol.

"Repent", means to "Change your mind about past (or intended) action, or conduct, on account of REGRET, contrition, for what one has done, or, omitted to do. We then feel 'regret' over things 'personal' to us individually. Seen by others or not. "For each one knows his own plague". 2 chronicles 6:29. We all have and will continue to fall short of God's righteous standards, in this System of things under Satan's rule, and in the new one to come. Either by poor choices, inexperience or pressures of life, we "Will Stuff it up" from time to time. I have heard ones shaken by death and grief, who have struggled with their faith, their hope. It does happen!

Repentance therefore is an ongoing evolution of ones own self analysis. In regards to the 'day' you are baptised, "In symbol of repentance of sin". We are making a public declaration, before God and men that we have "PERSONALLY" taken in 'enough knowledge' and have had 'enough life experience' to make a genuine effort to live in harmony with God's loving standards and requirements.

This therefore is a 'one time only' display of devotion. Being immersed before others, we are declaring that our former, often self driven actions are what we would like to leave behind, and a course of living as an independent, but as a co-dependent soul, with God and all. It is the course that the individual has consciously any without coercion from anyone else, made independently.

Baptism is a personal decision between you and our Heavenly Father. "If" you have had enough time to work out that, based on facts and evidence you can see; He "is real", He, "is not responsible for wicked things", He, "actually is 'Love'" and He, desires a willing, mutually beneficial relationship with you. That You alone are choosing this also, then you are ready for baptism.

ree

Considering this; Baptism is only for those mature enough to make such a personal and irreversible step. When Jesus was baptised it was "The People" who went to John. In fact Jesus himself, at the appointed time, was 29 yrs old when he presented "himself to do God's will".

How old should you be to get baptised? It does not matter. It is a PERSONAL decision for MATURE enough persons to get baptised. Only when you are ready and you have decided it is time for you and Jehovah to take this next step.

Yes! Baptism has nothing really to do with anyone but you, and your relationship God. Similar to a marriage or any other public display of affection or commitment.

If, you, like my friend, have reason for doubt as to your personal standing with our creator. That has nothing top do with Baptism. In fact, Jesus encouraged us with the words, "He is not far off from any one of you". He knows if you, by circumstance or heartache, loss or incapacitation are floundering a bit. It may be you have not even prayed for a while. For whatever reason. He can make it go well again, her "Recommends his love to us". Romans 5:8.

He knows, as we do, really, their is nothing bad from a close bond of affection with him.

Be patient with yourself and others if you are struggling with imperfection of thought.

Recall Jesus words, at Matthew 12;20, "No bruised reed will he crush, and no smouldering flaxen wick will he extinguish...." Yes! Jesus imitated perfectly his own God and Father in his feelings towards any who are "Tossed about, like Sheep without a shepherd". He can lift you up. If you despite not being able or find you have let your hands drop, for whatever reason, have hope, he will fan it, if you are lame, he will bind your wounds and give you words of encouragement. Even if, 'mentally, or psychologically your impaired, that's ok, keep your hope alive. As I mentioned in other blogs, "Turn the Page". We may be very surprised at what tomorrow brings, so lets just wait and see, while doing good when we can. So hold on.

After all he promises at Psalm 145;16, "And 'He' will satisfy the desire of every living thing". So don't give up hope that He has forgotten you. He has likewise promised that "I will gather back my scattered sheep... from the four corners".

I have mentioned examples like this in many other blogs; Clover, What can we do, Relationships etc.

Should we wear a dress or some other specific item for Baptism? No! This is yet another 'tradition of men' that is not relevant with God.

Concerning godfathers? Really, we only have one godfather, The Christ, Jesus.

The scriptures prophetically call him our 'father', His role, to lead us into a closer relationship with God, our Heavenly Father. We likewise have one godmother, God's heavenly organisation of faithful Angels and, which now is including those chosen from Earth to 'shepherd' in our relationship with our God. She, in the scriptures is called, 'the woman'.

However the Bible tells us we should consider all righteous and faithful Men, as fathers, Women, as mothers. Others our age and younger as Brothers and Sisters. "Consider the steps of the 'righteous'", the scriptures say, respecting others and learning from them is useful.

Yes! Again, our relationship is with God and our decision to be baptise also.

Traditions of men are of little or no benefit in worship and any service of God. So, be careful!

Who, and what, we listen too is up to each individual, nevertheless, "'keep on' considering the righteous ones and see how things turn out for them".

Regarding an outfit to wear on that special day. What do you think?

Should your appearance be that of someone that has reflected on the importance of the occasion, or is it an opportunity to get attention?

Surely it is an occasion to demonstrate to The Living God and any onlookers genuine humility.

While you personally give the occasion prayerful attention.

What does Mt 28;19, mean when it says to be, "Baptised in the name of The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit"?

I have written other Blogs that touch on this.

Being baptised in each one's 'name' means that at the very least we recognise the role each one has in our baptism, dedication and our every day Christian life. Do some research on this subject, it WILL broaden your respect and appreciation.

There are other things closely linked to our baptism, prior to it and moving forward past it.

We touched on repentance but others like conversion etc. I recall J.W.s (The genuine Anointed, Faithful Slave Groups) produced some interesting information on these. useful if you can find it. I have them, somewhere, but would not know where to begin looking, sorry.

I have, however, scanned in some relevant information after these things.

One important step in your relationship with Jehovah and his Anointed Son, who sees to it that all things take place just so, is 'Dedication'.

Like baptism, dedication is a personal discission. What is it?

Dedication

I hope the following information Is understandable as it should not be feared but easy for those ready to take such a step.

The word dedication, in a scriptural sense is, 'A separation or setting apart for a sacred purpose'.

Therefore, being Dedicated to Jehovah is a 'sacred service' of worship that ONLY He receives.

There are in fact many god's or things that peoples dedicate themselves too. A career, a purpose, their family, the environment, and on and on.

"Worship", or 'sacred devotion', is something the true God expects and demands as being separate from all other forms or needs of dedication or devotion.

The scriptures clearly state that God "Is a Jealous God... Exacting exclusive devotion.... And to none shall I give my own glory". Even Jesus himself, "presented himself to 'do God's will".

As mentioned, many of you are or have been dedicated to a faith, a belief, a religion.

This is still different to the dedication God expects and deserves. It is more closely, in my mind, likened to a marriage. A faithful mate 'always' has in their heart the one to whom they share a common, loving destiny or future. A link that is personal and focused with no unfaithfulness tolerated.

Jehovah, although being Almighty God, Is well aware of our imperfections and often poor choices, this is understood, it is not an excuse to be careless with ones dedication.

Whereas dedication to Jehovah and living by Godly principles is a serious decision, It, like marriage to someone you love, you trust, Is desirable, comforting and mutually beneficial, full of joy and love.

If like me you would be counted as "inactive", this has nothing to do with the longing in our hearts, which men cannot measure, only our Father Can do that.

Dedication in the Bible was often linked to worship of God in an official capacity. This was seen by the requirements for The high priest in the pre Christian era, where he was to wear a 'Symbol of holy dedication by wearing a crown on the sanctified head of a high priest and later on the head of a king; it also referred to Naziriteship. Numbers 6; 4-6.

At Mark 7;11, Jesus called attention to a thing as 'Corban' that is a gift dedicated to God. Mt 15;15.

And in other instances.

ree

Although NOT a thing I could see found as a scriptural directive, (Maybe it is?) Jehovah's Witnesses, and myself, at some point in drawing closer to God, 'present' themselves, privately, and personally, in prayer to The Living God, expressing the heartfelt desire to work together with him at doing his will. By choice and compelled by a heartfelt need to draw closer to God and present oneself to be available to serve and assist The living God and His "APROVED" representatives.

While living a clean life and imitating His and the Christs example. No! Not in restriction of everything, a life of deprivation and sacrifice, but in Joy of life and appreciation of it and all creation.

To "dedicate" oneself, from that day onwards, to serve God and strive to remain in an acceptable condition, spiritually, to serve him wholeheartedly. With this, again, It is vital to remember that it is thoroughly personal. not under compulsion nor coercion. "For God loves a cheerful giver". 2 Cor 9;7. Wherein lies the warning. Never does Jehovah, or the Christ, expect more than one can logically and physically give. Never does our dedication and service of God exclude one from ongoing commitments and responsibilities. NO running off, "To serve God". as some do today.

I suppose it is like admitting your feelings to a potential mate and partner in life. Desiring to take, "that next step", to cement your feelings and progress the relationship.

We must be ever mindful of the trap of using our dedication and service to bully others with righteousness. "Each one will carry his own load". Also, avoid becoming "Righteous overmuch".

As many have in the past and present. Putting yourself on a pedestal, we are all "Good for nothing slaves, what we have done is what we ought to have done". In other words, 'Don't get a big head', if you didn't do it, another would! Or do you think The Living God, Jehovah, can't get by without your input?

God, the Living God, wants you to live. Not, 'live to serve'. You are an independent being.

You have personal choices to make apart from service to God. So make them. If you have the privilege of some for of service, male or female. "Work at it whole souled". Do YOUR best but with joy.

Dedication simply means; 'you are available by choice', you have free will, remember!

At times, if some form of service is not going to be a thing you can fully engage in, it is ok to say. "Not this time, I have little ones or my wife needs me" etc. But of course all things should be considered prayerfully. If Jehovah really needs you to step up, He can let you know otherwise. Remember Samuel, 1 Samuel 3. He was chosen for a lifetime of service in this system. What will he be doing in the new one? We will see.

Yes, baptism has it's place in God's arrangement. But you are more important than a 'Symbolic' gesture. He is interested in how you are going, 'today'. Tell him your concerns, tell him what you enjoyed today, tell him what upset you and how you might handle it better next time. It really is just like talking to your best friend. But he is always available to listen. In time My hope is that you and all will see wonderful things, Hold on and enjoy what you can today, learn from this world and treasure the memories, good and bad. Days will come when peoples not acquainted with life as we know it will ask, "what was it like for you". You will be their Google, you will be their history lesson.

May the stories you tell relate how you even had days, lacking faith, certainty. Honesty, however painful, is weightier than fiction. May they all end with, "'But My God Rescued ME", the "God of Salvation" by means of our Big brother and best friend ever, Jesus Christ, who, even though we never knew him, he died so we could relate these things to you today, and have an everlasting tomorrow'.

Again, I'm sure I do not know everything. I'm certain I will probably laugh at just how clueless I and we all really are today. I am just a voice over the internet, hoping to help you Grow in your heart the Love and appreciation for the Living God who deserves nothing but the best we can give.

If you choose to ignore this section of any of my writings, that's fine, you are in control of your own decisions, Your own heart.

We really do need to be ready for anything, God's Word clearly states the Jesus will return in God's name. My hope is that we are in a good enough condition, 'spiritually' for him upon his inspection. Nevertheless, make every day count, love those you can, steer clear of bad and keep on encouraging one another as we see the road come into view before us. If I 'sleep' before then, that's ok. I will Catch you latter. Recall, "Before the great day, is desolation, after, Eden". Joel 2.

I'm getting a headache again, Lol. I need to stop. Thanks again for your time, your patience and May you be one who enjoys the happiness in my heart, thanks to our creator and Father, Jehovah.

Man in expectation :)

I will try, at some point, to upload some relevant study materials. Thanks again.

Please note; The following information was designed for, and by Jehovah's Witnesses, for the purpose of forming a large army of women and men to fulfil the God given commission to complete the Preaching work of declaring the incoming kingdom of God and providing instruction on the path forward, so that this work could and would be completed to God's satisfaction.

In short, it was written for J.W.s to train each to have a share in that work. So do not be surprised that the information reflects that vein.

If it were written for Electricians, would it not reflect that??

However, as with the Law that was given to Israel, the principles still apply, even though the Law code was abolished. It is entirely up to you If you make room for service in your life.

Note; this picture was designed, I think, with the intension of portraying the future we and they, who prove faithful under scrutiny, though separate in destiny, but united in service. Here and in heaven. A reminder that, they, like us, have had similar life journeys, they did it and will serve in heaven, at least till the 1000year reign has ended, for us, and, with us.

The way peoples are gathering in, as with streams leading to the sea, Peoples from every tribe nation and tongue are going to benefit from God's arrangements for salvation. May you and I, be in that number. Mankind is referred to in the Bible as, "the sea".

I hope this study materials which were taken from the books, Knowledge that leads to everlasting life, Insight on the scriptures and I think the last photo is from an old brochure, God's Government, or something like that.

The information is out there on a variety of topics, "The Truth", IS available to all who want it.

May you have peace and your days be many, wherever you end up in life. Man in Expectation :)

The mash-up! "You must love Jehovah your God, with your whole Heart, Mind, Soul and Strength and keep His Commandments. If you do, you will be wise enough to bypass any trial with ease, and have an indefinitely lasting name with The Living One. Those who fail to take these things to heart, will suffer shame and fall short in a large way, all that is his, will be destroyed and cease to exist.

You who love Him, however, will flourish with joy, under the tent cloths of Jehovah, always." Ecc 12:13, Mark 12:30 and Ps 37:18-20.
